"In August of 2010, I decided it was time to be a homeowner, again. I live paycheck to paycheck and didn't have much money saved. The only way I was going to be able to buy a place was to go through some sort of organization that would assist in down payment assistance and to get a loan with next to nothing down. Making the monthly payments is not an issue.
I put my name down as backup on 2 units. One in Phase 1 and another in Phase 2. Well, the unit in Phase 1 became available, I believe, in Oct. 2010. I was so excited that I was going to be able to move in!! I did have some concerns, but Joanne at the Housing Authority put my mind at ease! With a lot of pulling strings I was able to get a loan and down payment assistance in order to purchase my new place.
It was touch and go for a while with financing, and the rules changed as of March 1, which also was tough. I'm really glad I was able to make it happen. Now that I'm in my unit, I cannot express how happy I am with the craftsmanship on the place. For an affordable house in Breck, it is really nice!! I would have to say my overall experience with this project was an A+. The financing was tough, but that's just how it goes these days. I have a brother that makes a lot more money than I do and he is trying to buy a place in Sarasota, FL. Unless he can come up with 20% down, he is unable to get into a new place. I feel extremely grateful we have such wonderful assistance here in Summit County. Thanks!"

"I am really enjoying my new home! And, apparently, they did a good job building my house because even with the new phase under construction practically right in our back yard, our new place is nice and quiet!"
